European Roulette

NYX Gaming is a company who likes to keep it simple: after releasing American Roulette, they developed the European version. Both games share the same ruleset (even the same interface), the only difference is the wheel and the house edge. European Roulette has 37 slots on the wheel, instead of 38. This is because there is only one casino slot (0) on the wheel, not two (0 -00) like American Roulette. This increases your chances of winning as a player and lowers the house advantage. So if you can’t decide which version to play, we recommend the European one.

Just like its twin, European Roulette uses a simple yet effective interface. It is nothing fancy, but practical and does the job well, especially if you are a beginner. You can easily see your betting options and the simple layout of the buttons guide you through the game. There are visual aids too, which show the total bet amount, history of the spins, etc. You can play on your tablet PCs and mobile phones, but because of the technology used, they must support Flash. The game requires no download, no registration and can be played completely for free. (The demo version contains 500.00 coins for casual play.) As always, it is also possible to play for real money.

How to Play?

Your goal is to predict where the ball will land on the wheel. You place bets according to this prediction, and if you are correct, the payment will be made according to the paytable. The game is easy to play and offers a lot of betting options, each of which has a different probability and payout. Simply put, the lowest probabilities will pay the most. When you load the game for the first time, a welcome screen will appear. This screen asks you to determine your table limits and minimum & maximum bets. Choose the one which suits you the most.

The main interface will be displayed after this selection. As you can see, it looks exactly like a roulette table. Your main betting options are located at the bottom; they look like a bunch of red/black numbers between 0 – 36. Same numbers are repeated in a cylindrical shape at the top; they represent a special type of bet, which we will explain below.

For now, start by placing your bets. Do this by clicking any of the poker chips located at the bottom right and then clicking on the table. You can bet on more than one place, and if you want to raise the total bet, just keep clicking the same spot. Let’s take a closer look at your betting options:

Inside Bets

Inside bets pay the most because their probability is very low. They also have lower limits because of this reason. There are 5 types of inside bets:

  • Straight: Any single number
  • Split: 2 adjacent numbers
  • Street: All 3 numbers in a row
  • Corner: 4 numbers in a group
  • Line: Bet on 6 numbers

Outside Bets

Outside bets pay less than the inside ones, according to their lower probability. For the same reason, they also have higher table limits. There are 5 types of outside bets:

  • Column: An entire column of numbers
  • Dozen: A group of 12 numbers (1-12, 13-24, 25-36)
  • Color: Betting on the color of the outcome (red/black)
  • Even/Odd: Bet on the outcome whether will be an odd or even number
  • Low/High: A range of numbers (1-18 low, 19-36 high)

“0” slot is reserved for the casino, and if the ball lands that spot, all players lose.

Bonus Bets

As we mentioned above, European Roulette offers an extra set of betting options, which are known as the Voisins Du Zero (neighbors of zero) and Tiers du Cylindre (opposite of cylinder). These are specific bet types for the French roulette, and they have very low house edges (%1.37). European Roulette by NYX Gaming offers these options too, and we highly recommend you to use them. The bonus bets of the game are:

Bet NameExplanation
Voisins Du ZeroBetting on 0, 2, 3 + 25, 26,28, 29 (each with 2 chips), 4,7 + 12,15 + 18,21 + 19,22 + 32,35 (each with 1 chip)
Tiers du CylindreBetting on 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 23, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36

After placing your bet(s), click the spin button and start the round. Use the “quick spin” option if you don’t want to watch the spinning animation. To start a fresh game with different betting options, click the “new game” button.

The minimum bet to enter the game is either 1.00, 5.00 or 10.00 coins. The maximum bet is decided by you at the beginning and can be 100.00, 250.00 or 500.00 coins. There are 6 poker chips in total, and each one represents a different numeric value: 0.10, 0.50, 1.00, 5.00, 25.00, and 100.00. Within these table limits, you can use any chip you want.
